The RiverView is back!
You might have noticed a couple of things are a bit different now: the summer issue has come out later than usual and our official partners have changed ever so slightly.
Over the past five years, The RiverView has been brought to you by the Resident Editorial Board (REB) and local community group Thames Life, while being funded by Barking Riverside Limited (BRL). Since the beginning, we have always wanted the paper to be independent; fully run by residents for residents. We have taken a big step towards that this year; while still being funded by BRL, we are supported by the Barking Reach Resident Association – a resident body in its entirety.
We are so grateful to Thames Life for supporting us all these years, with training, advice and guidance when things got tough behind the scenes. Though officially they will not be our partner, you may still see articles from them from time to time. We thank BRL for continuing to believe in the REB and the hard work they do on a voluntary basis; it’s great to see everyone’s effort
is appreciated. That doesn’t mean, however, we won’t be looking for other funding pots to tap into and we’re excited for the business support BRL will be able to give in order to help make us more sustainable.
We promise to continue delivering a high standard of news, quarterly, and cannot wait to see what the future holds for The RiverView.
In the meantime, if you or anyone you know would be interested in joining the REB and/or have any local news to share in the next issue, please do not hesitate to contact us via Instagram DM or myself directly via email: theriverviewbr@gmail.com.
